Summer closures

During the month of August in order to give the team a hard earned rest, OBS will be running at reduced capacity and we will be fully closed for the weeks of August 11-17th and August 25-31st. Bookings for in-person sessions will open 10 days before as usual so if you don’t see any availability please check again later. Please also carefully check the day and venue of the session you have booked during the week of August 18-22nd as these may be different from our normal service. For feeding support while we’re fully closed, please contact your midwifery or health visiting team, or see our Recommended Resources for Parents. We will be back to normal service from September 1st.

While we're closed, see our Recommended Resources for links on common breastfeeding concerns & other sources of support

Pre-booking is advised for most of our sessions (see our Calendly page below) except at The Leys & Littlemore. Bookings open 10 days before each session, except for our sessions in The Leys and Littlemore as these run on alternate weeks, which open 3 weeks before. If there are no places available in the next 10 days Calendly will give the message “No times in” the current month. If you don’t get a space straight away, please try again, as they often become available nearer the time. Remember that you can also ask your midwife or health visitor for breastfeeding help.

After you have booked

Please complete our data collection form before attending the appointment. There will be a link to this in your booking confirmation email. We collect this information in order to comply with requirements of funders and to help us look at equity of access/accessibility for all local families/service users who need our services. Your data will be kept confidential and treated with respect. If you need help filling in the form, one of our team may be able to help you when you arrive.

Please have your baby’s red book with you when you attend your appointment.

Please book in slots at our in-person sessions via our Calendly page below

Most session bookings have been divided into two slots. You are welcome to arrive at any time during your slot and to chat to other families and our volunteers before/after you have spoken to the facilitator. The earlier you can arrive, the more feeding support you are likely to get.

We aim to see families in the order in which they arrive, but we may need to prioritise if babies are distressed, ready/ not ready to feed etc. Thank you for your understanding about this. If you will need to leave before the end of the session, please let us know on arrival.

If you are unable to attend after all, PLEASE CANCEL YOUR BOOKING as places at this session are very limited and this may enable another family to attend.

If you have any queries, you can contact us by email.

Language & Interpretation

Language Line language interpretation services are available, including for British Sign Language. When booking an in-person slot via Calendly you can mention your needs including interpretation in the section that asks about your breastfeeding issue or problem.

You may find it helpful to use a free transcription app such as Otter Voice Meeting Notes that will listen to your consultation and transcribe your conversation in real time, as well as saving it to look back over later.
